I haven't seen a Copy Toner scam in a while. I thought they were mostly gone. Here is an example of one from the myth-busting website, Snopes.com. The Federal Trade Commissions has a perpetual warning about them. Regent Imaging Supplies uses the oldest scam on the books to make money.
The scam works as such: the company calls businesses to sell them toner and asks them to update their information. They speak with employees; almost never do these outfits speak to the owner of the business. They get the employee to agree to purchase supplies from the company, then charges an astronomical price for basic office supplies.

I just received a call from this company. 3/27/2013. The sales person was telling me that we had requested product from them, to be delivered at the beginning of the year. I know that we did NOT request anything from them, we are on contract with another company, and when I started to threaten him with BBB, he hung up immediately. Be careful with this kind of call. Do NOT let them TELL you they are sending ANYTHING.
ReplyDeleteWe just had another toner show up from these people and I again have refused it. THey do not answer their phone and the 'distribution center' out of the Los Angles area claims to only ship what their customer asks them to AKA Regent Imaging. All my copy machine supplies are provided in my contract with the company I purchased the machines from.
ReplyDeleteThe company hit us as well here in California. We happened to be ordering toner at the time so when they called, indicating they were inquiring about our toner order and making sure we needed it, of course we said yes. They are not our contracted company and we had not ordered toner from them. We received an invoice, toner and when trying to call, they do not answer the phone.
